Role Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Node.js Backend Engineer to lead backend development for JeroidPay, building secure, scalable, and high-performance APIs and services that support our fintech and digital payment operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js.
- Build and manage secure RESTful APIs and system integrations.
- Develop and optimise database structures, queries, and application performance.
- Implement robust authentication, authorisation, and security controls.
- Ensure system reliability, scalability, and performance under high transaction volumes.
- Integrate third-party payment services and other fintech solutions.
- Lead backend technical decisions, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and improve system reliability.
- Collaborate with product, frontend, and other engineering teams to deliver business requirements.
- Mentor other engineers and contribute to technical documentation.
Requirements
- Extensive professional experience in backend development with Node.js.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript.
- Experience building and maintaining production-grade APIs and distributed systems.
- Strong knowledge of relational and/or NoSQL databases.
- Experience with authentication, API security, testing, and performance optimisation.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, version control, and deployment workflows.
- Experience in fintech, payment systems, or other transaction-heavy platforms is an advantage.
- Proven ability to make sound architectural decisions and lead technical delivery.
