This Cookie Policy explains how Jeroid (“Jeroid”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit our website, use our mobile application, or otherwise access Jeroid Services, including our crypto asset trading, digital payment, and gift card redemption services.

Introduction

This Policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use, which explain more broadly how we collect, use, and protect your personal data. By continuing to use our Platform after being presented with our cookie banner and adjusting your preferences, you consent to our use of cookies as described in this Policy, to the extent required by applicable law.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website or use an application. They allow the website to recognize your device and remember information about your visit, such as your preferences, login status, and actions taken on the Platform.

In addition to cookies, we may use other similar technologies, including:

  • Web beacons (pixel tags) – small graphic images used to track user behaviour and email engagement;
  • Local storage and session storage – used by web browsers to store data locally on your device;
  • SDKs (Software Development Kits) – used within our mobile application to enable analytics and security features;
  • Device fingerprinting – used for fraud prevention and account security purposes.

References to “cookies” in this Policy include these similar technologies unless otherwise stated.

Why we use cookies

Given the nature of our Services, involving the trading of crypto assets, processing of digital payments, and redemption of gift cards, cookies and related technologies play an important role in:

  • Keeping your account secure and detecting unauthorized access attempts;
  • Supporting our fraud prevention, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Know Your Customer (KYC) obligations;
  • Maintaining your session while you complete multi-step transactions (e.g., trade confirmations, payment processing, gift card verification);
  • Understanding Platform usage patterns to improve speed, reliability, and user experience;
  • Personalizing your experience, such as displaying your preferred currency or saved payment methods;
  • Where you have consented, delivering and measuring the performance of marketing communications.

Your consent and cookie preferences

When you first visit the Jeroid website or open our mobile application, you will be presented with a cookie banner allowing you to accept or reject cookies. Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent, as they are essential for the Platform to function and for us to meet our legal and security obligations.

Managing your preferences

You may change your cookie preferences at any time by:

  • Adjusting your account privacy settings within the Jeroid mobile application;
  • Configuring your browser settings to block, delete, or alert you about cookies (see the section on managing cookies through your browser below).

Consequences of disabling cookies

Please note: disabling strictly necessary or security cookies may prevent you from logging in, completing transactions, or using core features such as crypto trading, payments, and gift card redemption. Jeroid shall not be liable for any loss of functionality resulting from your cookie preferences.

Managing cookies through your browser

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically:

  • View what cookies are stored on your device and delete them individually;
  • Block third-party cookies;
  • Block cookies from particular sites;
  • Block all cookies from being set;
  • Delete all cookies when you close your browser.

For guidance on managing cookies in popular browsers, please visit your browser provider’s support page, or refer to independent resources such as allaboutcookies.org. Please note that if you block or delete cookies, some features of the Jeroid Platform may not function correctly.

We do not currently respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals, as there is no consistent industry standard for interpreting such signals. We will update this Policy if our practices change.

Third-party cookies and service providers

Certain cookies on our Platform are placed by third-party service providers who help us operate, secure, and improve our Services, including:

  • Analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics) – to understand Platform usage;
  • Fraud prevention and identity verification providers – to support KYC/AML compliance and detect suspicious activity;
  • Payment processors and banking partners – to facilitate digital payment transactions;
  • Customer support and live chat providers – to enable in-Platform support;
  • Advertising and marketing partners – to deliver and measure marketing campaigns, where you have provided consent.

These third parties may set their own cookies, over which Jeroid has no direct control. We encourage you to review the privacy and cookie policies of these third parties for further information. Jeroid is not responsible for the privacy practices of independent third-party websites linked from our Platform.

International data transfers

Some of our third-party service providers may process cookie-derived data outside Nigeria. Where this occurs, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place, in compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) 2019, including the use of standard contractual clauses, adequacy assessments, or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms.

Children’s data

Jeroid Services are not directed at, and are not intended for use by, individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect cookie data from children. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected data from a person under 18 through cookies, we will take steps to delete such data promptly.

Where cookies involve the processing of your personal data, you have certain rights under applicable data protection law, including the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you;
  • Request correction of inaccurate data;
  • Request deletion of your data, subject to our legal retention obligations;
  • Withdraw your consent to non-essential cookies at any time;
