Position: Legal Counsel Location: Lagos Job Type: Full Time (On-Site)
Job Overview: As Jeroid's in-house Counsel, you are expected to provide legal advice, support, and guidance to the company, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations while mitigating legal risks.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide legal expertise and guidance on a wide range of legal matters to ensure the company's operations are in accordance with legal rules and guidelines, recommending appropriate courses of action
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including contracts, letters, and other official correspondence, ensuring clarity and accuracy in legal language, ensuring terms align with the company's interests and legal requirements.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards without overtly revealing the compliance function.
- Ensure that the company adheres to all relevant legal rules and guidelines.
- This includes identifying potential legal risks and developing strategies to mitigate them.
- Manage legal disputes and conflicts, including providing legal opinions, participating in negotiations, and liaising with external legal counsel when necessary.
- Identify legal risks in business operations and propose risk mitigation strategies.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of company policies and procedures with legal implications.
- Conduct legal due diligence for transactions, partnerships, and acquisitions.
- Protect the company's intellectual property rights and manage trademark/copyright matters.
- Support data privacy efforts, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
- Uphold the highest level of confidentiality and ethical standards in all legal matters.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Law; additional relevant certifications are advantageous.
- Licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
- 2-4yrs of Proven experience as legal counsel or in a similar legal role.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
